3M 8246 Particulate Respirator Details
The 3M 8246 provides the same great features as the 3M 8240, plus protection from nuisance levels of acid gasses. If acid gasses are not present, the 8240 is the more economical choice.
The 3M 8246 is NIOSH-approved to provide 95% filtration efficiency against both solid and liquid non-oil based particulate. These classic disposable respirators require no maintenance, and are an excellent choice for environments in which oil-based solid or liquid aerosols and nuisance levels of acid gas are all present. With their collapse-resistant shell, the 3M 8246 stands up to hot, humid conditions with increased durability.
The 3M 8246 features 3M's advanced electrostatically charged microfiber filter media, which helps the wearer breathe more easily and stay cooler while working. This design even makes it easier for workers to communicate. The headband is braided to reduce hair-pulling, and the adjustable noseclip helps improve the faceseal and prevent eyewear fogging. Cool and comfortable, and lightweight for easy extended wear, The 3M 8246 contributes to better worker comfort and increased wear time, helping to lower costs.
The 3M 8246 is recommended for agricultural production, brewing oprations, aluminum smelting, paper processing, dry chemical handling, and other dusty/oily operations. Note: for use with both non-oil and oil based particulate.
The 3M 8240/8246/8247 Family of Respirators
Choosing between these models of R95 masks doesn't have to be complicated.
The 8240 provides R95 protection from both oil and non-oil based particulate.
The 8246 provides R95 protection plus relief from nuisance levels of acid gasses.
The 8247 provides R95 protection plus relief from nuisance levels of organic vapors.
More Information About Respirators
Choosing N-, R-, or P-Series Particulate Respirators
Filter efficiency shows how much filter leakage can be accepted. Higher efficiency means less leakage.
95%, 99%, and 99.97% are the most common filter efficiency ratings.
Used in particulate environments free of oil aerosols. N-series filters cannot be used if oil particles are present.
Used for oil and non-oil particles with time use limitations specified by NIOSH. If oil particles (e.g., lubricants, cutting fluids, glycerine) are present, use an R- or P-series filter.
Used for oil and non-oil particples with time use limitations specified by manufacturer. If oil particles are present and the filter is to be used for more than one work shift, use only a P-series filter.
