3M 8514 Welding Respirator Details
The 3M 8514 welding respirator offers the same great features as the 3M 8512, but with added protection from ozone and nuisance levels of organic vapors.
The 3M 8514 N95 provides at least 95% filtration efficiency against non-oil based particulate, and was designed to provide protection against dust, non-volatile liquid particles, and welding fumes. These respirator masks have a special outer surface optimized for welding applications. The surface is flame retardant, and the filter media is comprised of special cake-resistant filter layers that keep the respirator cleaner and easier to breathe in for longer. That means wearing these respirators is more pleasant, and the masks don't need to replaced as often, saving money. This benefit is enhanced by the respirators' cup-shaped design, which won't collapse even in hot and humid conditions, even further reducing the number of masks required.
The 3M 8514 is well-built and comfortable. The cup-shaped mask feels spacious and easy to wear. The Cool Flow™ valve vents heat out and away, and the advanced electret filter material provides low breathing resistance; these features work together to keep the wearer cool and able to breathe easy. The 4 point headbands are fully adjustable for a comfortable and stable fit, and the bands are braided to feel soft on the neck, head, and face.
The 3M 8514 disposable respirator is recommended for welding, metal pouring, torch cutting, soldering, and brazing. Also suitable for bagging, sweeping, sanding, grinding, and other hot/dusty applications. Note: not for use with oil based particulate.

More Information About Respirators
Choosing N-, R-, or P-Series Particulate Respirators
Filter efficiency shows how much filter leakage can be accepted. Higher efficiency means less leakage.
95%, 99%, and 99.97% are the most common filter efficiency ratings.
Used in particulate environments free of oil aerosols. N-series filters cannot be used if oil particles are present.
Used for oil and non-oil particles with time use limitations specified by NIOSH. If oil particles (e.g., lubricants, cutting fluids, glycerine) are present, use an R- or P-series filter.
Used for oil and non-oil particples with time use limitations specified by manufacturer. If oil particles are present and the filter is to be used for more than one work shift, use only a P-series filter.
