I am very disappointed with the quality of these ear plugs which were pricey but not effective. In my case, I had surgery on my right ear and it was unsafe to have water get into that ear. On the company's recommendation I purchased two sets of ear plugs and none of them proved satisfactory. I ended up getting water into my right ear which has now caused me additional problems. Therefore, I would not recommend the product.

For my ear canal size (medium/large) they work great at keeping out water while surfing. Better for me than the other "audible" earplugs I've tried: Doc's pro plugs, JBL Hydroseals, and the ubiquitous silicone concha shaped plugs from zoggs, speedo, tyr, etc. Also, they can be trimmed to fit smaller ear canals. My one critique is that I wish the handles were longer so that you could insert and remove the plugs without the included tool. But perhaps the shorter handles make them more secure in the ear.

I am a TI swimmer. Like many others, I cannot hear the tempo trainer while swimming. I searched for ear plugs that would prevent water from entering my ears while allowing me to hear the tempo trainer. I found that Alpine swimsafe premium ear plugs fulfill these criteria. Today, for the first time, I was able to swim with my new ear plugs while being guided by the tempo trainer. I was forced to repeatedly readjust the placement of the earplugs. When the ear plugs are positioned too deep in the ear the tempo trainer cannot be heard. Perhaps this is not the ultimate solution for the hearing impaired but I think the use of Alpine swimsafe premium ear plugs is worth a try. Daniel
