Innovative inert protein (think, sea sponges) ear cushions create an extraordinarily comfortable acoustic seal, that blocks out much of the ambient background noise, even before you turn on the electronics. When you do hit the on button, the Solitude XCS Headphones' patent pending circuitry instantly provides a high level of continuous noise reduction across the entire acoustic spectrum. Tiny microphones located inside each ear cup measure the exact noise level that would reach the ear. Solitude XCS then calculates the optimum anti-phase signal needed to cancel out the ambient noise, and produces that inverted sound wave, physically canceling out the noise and leaving you with just the sound of silence; that is, unless you choose to plug into a music source. With the background noise gone, you are left with pure listening enjoyment.
