Etymotic ER20-CCC-C Hi-Fidelity Musicians' Ety-Plugs (Large Size) - Includes 1 Pair With Carry Case, Neck Cord, and Instructions. Fits Average to Large Ear Canals

Etymotic ER 20 Hi-Fi Natural Sound Ear Plugs feature patented Hi-Fi technology that lets you hear all frequencies clearly, just as if you had no plugs in, but at a lower volume level. The triple flange design on these musician ear plugs produces a good seal in most ear canals, yielding accurate performance and a comfortable fit for nearly everyone. (These plugs are also known as Elacin ER 20s ear plugs in Europe.)

* Choosing the Right Size

Note: Etymotic has changed the size designation. The regular size is now called "Large" and the BabyBlues Small is now called "Standard"

* From the Manufacturer: "All ears are different. It is impossible to predict the size of an ear canal by the appearance of the outer ear, or by a person's physical size, age or gender. Two sizes of ETY-Plugs fit almost 100% of ear canals. In recent studies of both fit and seal, conducted at Etymotic Research and an independent lab, showed that the smaller of the two sizes fits the majority of ears and is now designated as standard fit." (Used with permission.)

For Average to Small ears, We Recommend
Standard Size ER-20 (Formerly Called Baby Blues)

For Average to Large ears, We recommend
Large Size ER-20

ER-20 Hi-Fi Ear Plugs reduce the volume by about 20 db--just enough to prevent damage to your hearing, but not so much that you lose the enjoyment of the music. The ER-20 has an NRR of 12 rather than 20 because the frequency weighting used in the NRR calculation assumes blocking of higher frequencies more than of lower frequencies, and these plugs do not do that. They are designed to let you hear the full range of music, without distortion across the frequencies.

ER-20 plugs are durable, washable, and long lasting. With proper care they will last for months even with daily use. Sold with sturdy carrying cases in quantities of one or more. The more you buy, the more you save. All packs include a carrying case with each pair of plugs.

Quality all around!!
October 22, 2021
The fit is excellent. Thought I wouldn't like that they stick out from my ears but it's not really noticeable. I love that it comes with the string so you can dangle around your neck/shoulders when not in use. And I *LOVE* how the noise is dampened and still sounds normal. I play saxophone and the sound of my saxophone was still incredibly pleasant with both plugs in. That NEVER happens. Usually the instrument is blaring in your head and everything else is tuned out. Not with these plugs. I can comfortably play and still hear the band just fine.

Doesn't give an irritating blocked up feeling like other earplugs. I've been using them for years at concerts and the like. They really work - bring the noise down enough so it doesn't hurt your ears without eliminating too much sound.

Ah, I've been a fan of the Hocks Noise Brakers for a long time now, since 2007 I think? But recently, I've been noticing in addition to the size, they really are too small for my ears, they are difficult to pull out and start causing pain sometimes because of that. I've got a few pairs of the Etymotic ER20's for my mom over the years. And I love the feel of the three flange tip, even the ear plugs at work are the same style. The ER20's feel very comfortable in my ears. No more pain when pulling them out or even having them in for extended periods (3+ hour show). They are the clear tip, no colour or anything in the end, but are a bit longer than the old Hocks. Because they fit /so/ well, I do find I get that "pluggy" feeling, especially when talking. It sounds weird until you experience it. But the noise reduction is very apparent, and appreciated. Still love pulling them out after a long show and, ahh, I can hear/no ringing!!! I've already seen about 2 concerts and I can already tell I'm going to love these filters.

I would not think of tuning a piano without these earplugs. They are very comfortable, and not only do they protect my hearing in a very loud, banging environment, but they actually allow me to hear higher partials better while masking external environmental noise (such as tvs, vacuum cleaners, kids, etc.) I could not, nor would not tune without them.

Good customer service. Had to go to the larger size for my ears but once in the changed the whole balance of the bandstand. I could hear my bass very well and with the cymbal overtones toned down I could hear everyone better. I play jazz but we get a bit loud sometimes so these helped. Also good in the car at highway speeds. They don't seem to have as flat a frequency response as the graph would lead you to believe but with 12 or so db of attenuation they do the job.

Reasonably priced plugs which are perfect for motorcycle riding. They block the most offensive wind and road noise while allowing music and calls through with clarity. Other noise such as horns are also easier to hear. I tried both medium and large and both perform the same.

I recently received two new pairs of these for my wife and myself. We starting using this product 8 years ago and always take them to live music events. They are comfortable to use and are effective in keeping sound levels at a comfortable level unless we temporarily get very close to a very loud band. We've also used them at aerobic exercise classes if the recorded music is too loud. We now have several pairs on hand. Sometimes we'll misplace a pair so it's nice to have extras around.

When I placed my order the Large size was the only size available, so I ordered them thinking they must fit just about everybody. I tried them at rehearsal this week, but they appear to be too big. They're somewhat uncomfortable in my ears.

Took these to vans warped tour this year and they work great. Comfortable to wear for extended amounts of time and do there job perfectly. Cuts out the high frequencies and parts of the music that hurt your ears but still enable you to hear the music and singers AND be able to hear your friends talk next to you. In some cases, it actually improved the quality of the music by enabling you to hear it more clearly. Great purchase, especially for the price.

These work flawlessly! I recently returned from a 10-day music festival where I was exposed to loud music for an average of 8hrs each night and there was no ringing whatsoever. The fit of these are exceptional and they are a tremendous value to boot. I couldn't find a lower price anywhere within the greater LA area and they arrived quick too. Will definitely buy again!!

December 18, 2011
I love the earplugs for normal everyday use, but, as a drummer, I need a lot more ear-blocking than these provide. Don't get me wrong, I love the earplugs, I just need something else while I play.

Not only are these easy to insert and remove, and pretty comfortable for an hour (longest I've worn them), but the small, unobtrusive case is easy to add to a keychain--so you always have them around!

July 22, 2011
For the price it is just great value. Before these I had plugs called Party Plugs, for the same money. The disadvantage of the ER20's are that they are a bit larger and they stick out of your ears. My previous ones were cuttable, so you could make them smaller. But it meant more hassle to get it into your ears, it could take a minute to get them in. The ER20's are in my ears in a few seconds, and the levels are quite good for these cheap earplugs :) I sometimes have to ask people not to shout in my ears, cause I can hear them fine at a normal (but firm) speaking volume at a party! :) Summary: I never go out without my ER20's!

I love the fit of these ear plug (I go the large size) and while I know that going with out them will cause ringing in my ears to get worse and worse..I'm hoping to figure it out for better results the next time around. Overall a great product, just going to have to get use to wearing them at shows and adjust the sound. I would recommend these ear plugs to any concert go-ers.

I'm gonna buy some more. Work great at the loud gigs I play at. Tried them again last night and the end of gig ear ringing is gone and I dont have that fatigue from loud ass monitors that the lead singer must have every gig. Expensive for a set of ear plugs, but I'll pay again for these. Worth it.

i would consider myself to have normal sized ears, but i feel like i really need to shove these things into my ears to make them work. they sound wayyyy better than foam earplugs, but also cut out less sound. they make loud sounds sound less abrasive.

April 2, 2011
I play in a band and usually positioned next to a speaker. So a friend told me about your ear plugs. I used for one night and really liked how they filtered the sound. However, I am really bummed that I left them at the bar I performed at and after calling them that night the bouncers never found them. I assume they got tossed in the trash. I am really kicking myself and so I will buy more at some point. I feel real stupid because they were really nice but I only got to use them once.

Wore them last night for a Pogues concert. Great...you can push them in or pull them out some to change the sound volume, but you don't lose quality of the music.

January 29, 2011
I play in a professional drumline. Foam ear plugs work, but sometimes it's difficult to hear when you want to. The ER-20's are much better! Not only can you hear and understand when people talk, but it's easier to hear the guys playing next to you and articulations are clearer, so it's easier to play clean because I can hear, without pain!

January 25, 2011
I wish I had known about these ear plugs earlier, to save myself from tinnitus, but I'm using them now to prevent the problem from getting worse. I play the French horn in symphony, ballet and opera orchestras, and usually sit in front of the percussion sections. I like these ear plugs because they are easy to adjust, during performance. When the noise level is high, I push them in, but if I have a solo, I can quickly pull them out just a bit to hear myself better. Every musician should use these for protection. Tinnitus never goes away, once you have it.

December 3, 2010
I used my new Etymotic ER-20 ear plugs this week for the first time playing drums for an African dance class and the next night at my weekly Djembe drum class. They reduce the sound to a nice level so that I can still understand speaking and conversation. I used to have to take my old earplugs out to hear instructions, and end up taking them in and out and finally leaving them out, but not with my ER-20 plugs. I thought I would have to spend $150 to get this kind of ear protection.
