Pro-Ears Ultra Pro are not recommended for MRI procedures that require the use of a head coil (as used in brain scans), because these large ear muffs will not fit inside the head coil. Pro-Ears MRI Safe Ultra Sleek are the thinnest MRI Safe ear muffs available (See and order below. Sleek will also fit babies up to average sized adults), so if Sleek muffs will not work, you will need to use ear plugs for your procedure instead. For scans not involving the head, Pro-Ears Ultra Pro ear muffs are a great choice.

MRI Safe Pro-Ears Ultra Premium Ear Muffs (NRR30)

This item was purchased by me solely for the purpose of reducing the sound in an MRI machine. It was never used. The MRI technician at the MD Anderson Cancer Hospital, Houston, informed me that it was too bulky and would not fit the head-area of the machine. The item should never have been described using "MRI Safe..." It is misleading. Money ill-spent.

Okay so first of all, I am an absolute scaredy cat when it comes to loud noises. I had my fair share of stupid decisions in my teens with going to loud events with no hearing protection, etc. So, when I learned I had to get an MRI, I wanted to get the best hearing protection on the market and double it up with earplugs. These headphones are the BEST!!!! I am telling you, they made me feel so comfortable during the procedure (an HOUR long)!!! AND...when I emailed customer service for help with adjusting them, they made a tutorial video just for me to help me!!! You will not regret working with these guys. My ears are perfectly fine after my procedure thanks to the high quality, and I will be a customer for LIFE!!! Thanks again!!

  • Everything! Sound attenuation and comfort were on point. Use earplugs (32dB) underneath them and NOTHING will bother you!
Cons
  • Nothing! You have to be a little bit forceful when adjusting them for the first time but that?s it.

THESE ARE INCREDIBLE. For the first time the banging of the MRI didn’t hurt my ears. The technicians were very interested in them so I donated them to the imaging center to share with other patients.

I have hyperacusis and had an MRI performed on my hand with my head right in the machine as well. Definitely made a difference compared to using only the foam ear plugs the facility provides. Even though it was loud, it prevented me from feeling any pain for the first time during an MRI. This site also sells the slim versions which could potentially work for a brain scan depending on the machine. Be sure to call and ask your imaging center if they allow you to bring your own ear protection. Note mine initially told me no, I still brought them and a different person told me it was fine.
