Isolation earphones have become one of the most popular ways for audiophiles to listen to music -- and the Etymotic ER4 is the earphone that started it all. ER4 Earphones combine sound isolating ear tips with studio reference quality audio, cutting you off from the rest of the world and setting you adrift on an ocean of sound. The ER4 was the first earphone to offer balanced armature technology. Today that technology has advanced; the drivers are new, and the headphones have been completely re-sleeved into a sleek new laser-etched, anoodized aluminum body. But some things haven't changed. 20 years later, these are still the earphones by which all other earphones are judged. Ideal for audio engineers, audiophiles, and musicians.
What sets isolation earphones apart from other in-ear earphones (also known as "earbuds") is their sound isolating properties. The eartips on the ER4 block outside sound from entering the ear. This creates a seal against noise that also keeps the music in, amplifying and enriching the sound quality while eliminating most annoying background noise. With the ER4, you will find that you can listen to your music at a much lower volume and still hear details other earphones can't deliver. Block out the world, and surprise yourself with how good your music can be.
Which ER4 Model Do I Need: ER4SR vs ER4XR
Both ER4 Earphone models offer increased sensitivity with industry-leading channel matching and balanced-armature drivers. Both feature a stremlined, laser-etched aluminum body and a new reinforced, detachable cable. The difference is all in the sound: the ER4XR offers uncompromising accuracy in the mid ranges, but features a slightly extended low end. If you crave more bass, the ER4XR is for you. On the other hand, if pinpoint-perfect accuracy is your main concern, the ER4SR is what you've been looking for.
