Swim

Keeping water out of your ears during swimming, surfing, or bathing is crucial to prevent infections like swimmer's ear, surfer's ear, and general ear infections. We offer four main types of ear protection:

  • Swimming Ear Plugs: These are designed specifically to keep your ears dry and prevent "swimmer's ear."
  • Moldable Ear Plugs: Made from soft wax or silicone, these comfortable, versatile plugs seal your ears from water.
  • Reusable Ear Plugs: Many rubber or silicone plugs work well for swimming and can be used many times.
  • Custom Molded Swimming Ear Plugs: These offer the best possible fit. You can get do-it-yourself (DIY) versions or professional ones made in a lab.

Important Tips:

  • For Kids with Ear Tubes: For the best protection from water, use a swimming ear band with your child's moldable earplugs.
  • Best for Frequent Adult Users: If adults swim or surf often, professional lab custom earplugs are highly recommended. They last the longest and fit the best, though they are the most expensive.
  • Best for Growing Kids: Moldable swim plugs are often better for children because they don't go into the ear canal, meaning they'll still fit even as your child grows.
  • For Surfing: When choosing earplugs for surfing or other cold, windy water sports, pick ones that have a low "Noise Reduction Rating" (NRR) so you can still hear what's happening around you. They must fit very snugly to block out both cold water and wind, which helps prevent "surfer's ear."
