Hard to set correctly in ear
May 22, 2021
I prefer the previous version of these. This version is a bugger to use. If I read the directions correctly you have to do a headstand, spin twice and insert the plugs with your toes. Maybe I misread it but it would be nice to a video of the correct way.

The ear plugs are good, but I was sold the wrong ear plugs. These are minus 12 decibels. They work fine, but hardly put a dent into filtering out super loud bass music at an indoor EDM venue, where you need -35 decibels. I would suggest having 2 or 3 strengths of ear plugs with a -35 if you go to EDM Festivals.

Lower the bass without eliminating the treble. Almost invisible.

I bought the previous version 5 years ago and wanted to have more sets on different locations, so I don't need to bring the earplugs along all the time. While the idea behind two sizes is good, both of them are smaller than their predecessor and too small for me. They are also more difficult to fit and they produce loud noise while trying to due to pressure changes. All in all I'm disappointed and will probably stick with the previous version as long as possible. [from EPSS Customer Service: The original Mack's Hear Plugs are still available. Two size plugs is a great idea for Hi-fi earplug newbies like me. The larger size fit perfectly and they are very comfortable. Also quite discrete with the tabs rather than stems, although grabbing the tabs to remove took a little getting used to. Audio level reduction is very good while maintaining wide bandwidth and low distortion. I am not a musician but purchased them for events where the band is playing a painful levels. Recently attended a wedding reception with sustained sound levels over 100 dB and peaks over 115 dB. Save your hearing, protect your ears!
